Introducing Moi.

During my pregnancy my wonderful husband made sure I was eating healthy. Like, really healthy. No crazy restrictions like organic or vegetarian/vegan stuff just natural, variety with minimal processing. This ment no fast food. Literally. The closest thing we would eat to fast food was the OccAsional pizza. This also ment that my husband did a ton more cooking and it was fabulous. After having our baby it's amazing how much less I want to cook and come up with ideas than before. It's also amazing how my husbands kitchen hands disappeared ;) at least he still has barbecue hands. So this blog is as much for me as it is for you. I will be posting all the things I make so you and I can have some "fresh" ideas/ be reminded of things we haven't made in a while and may be time to make again. "I like to call them keepers."

My version of cooking "from scratch" - As much as I would love to get fresh produce and breads everyday that is just too time consuming and lets face it, it's expensive when you end up throwing out the fresh stuff you thought you'd cook with that week. Freezers are my friend and Madam Freeze doesn't just have to be ice cream and preservative laden foods. When we make things from raw ingredients not only do we cut down on calories but we do away with excess ingredients like high fructose corn syrup that just make food less healthy. It also gives us the opportunity to incorporate healthy alternatives that taste great. And using a mix of pre-done store bought products with some stuff from scratch is a great way to make healthier food with out taking too much time.

I enjoy baking and sometimes I even love cooking. My hubby and I have been together for 7 years and we love to make the occasional (couple times a year maybe) extravagant meal at home together. Like something we saw on a cooking show. We basically never have the ingredients in our house so it's a whole date going to the store and then come home and make it. (I'll let you know how it goes now that we've got a mini me to take care of) It's a great way to branch out to new kinds of food and enjoy each others company. My husband also has a natural ability to improv and make delicious food, which drives me crazy because we've never had to scrap or eat around anything he's made. Though to be fair I test a hell of a lot more recipes than he does. Test out some of my recipes and see if our taste buds collide. If your tastes are like mine follow me.  And if you are feeling extra bold e-mail me one of your favorite recipes and if I like it I'll feature it!
